Remember that Mother’s Day is on Sunday! I can’t wait! I love showing my mother some appreciation. I can’t even explain how much I love my mom. I don’t just love and appreciate her, I respect her. She has been through so much in her life. I don’t know if I would have made it if I went through the same things she went through. I love the way she gives me advice and still lets me steal food from the fridge when I come over to visit. I love the way she smells, her smile and her laugh. I don’t know what I would do without my mommy. What kind of gift can you give to someone you love so much.
Sometimes I feel like there is nothing good enough for my mother. I would buy her all she wanted if I had the money. I want to give my mother the world, not just flowers and Mother’s Day breakfast. I made a list of things I think would be the perfect Mother’s Day gift. Tangible items don’t always show how much you care and appreciate someone.
1. Write your mom a thank you letter. Make sure it really expresses how much you love her. It needs to be long and real. Be specific about things she has done for you. Write down how it made you feel. I’m sure she will appreciate this much more than flowers.
2. Tell your mom how well of a job she is doing – Even the most confident of mothers sometimes struggles with feelings of inadequacy. Reassuring words can echo back to her the next time she doubts her abilities as a mother.
3. If you’re religious, you understand what a strengthening effect a prayer of faith can have. Studies have even shown that people who were sick recovered more quickly when people prayed for them even if they didn’t know they were praying. Imagine what it could do for your favorite mother!
4. Just tell her how you feel. Say, “Mom, I think it’s great that you’re a mom. A mother’s work is so important, and I’m glad that you’re involved in your kids’ lives that way.”
